Morning Run: Wyoming East High School Bus 202 will pick up her regular students and students that ride Bus 134. Bus 134 students may be 10 minutes late getting picked up! Mullens Elementary and Middle School Bus 134 students that live past the entrance to Traceys Mountain to the County Line will need to meet Bus 202 at the bottom of Traceys Mountain at 7:55am.

Wyoming East received bioluminescent fungi from Tiffany Ward at West Virginia State University. Students cultured A. mallea into 20 petri dishes with bread crumb agar, and they will observe the fungal growth for a month. Mrs. Bauer’s environmental science students conducted an air pollution study on cars from 1998 to 2020. They will examine the particulates that were caught by socks after running cars for 5 minutes under a microscope. Mrs. Bauer’s A.P. Environmental Science students tested the effectiveness of boons, skimmers, and absorbers before and after using a dispersant on an oil spill. Removing the oil was tedious, and the chemicals released in the water diffused before they could be captured. #WarriorProud #LoveMyWVSchool #ShowcaseWyCoSchools

Both buses may be 10 minutes late picking up students. PM Runs: Bus 216 Cathy and 215 Rose will deliver home the students they picked up on the morning runs.

Ms. Walker’s US Studies students at Wyoming East were detectives hired by the family of one of the women accused of witchcraft in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692.  Students searched the room for clues and recorded their findings in their detective notebooks. Students used their research to create a timeline of events and write a report determining whether the accused woman was guilty of a crime. #WarriorProud #LoveMyWVSchool #ShowcaseWyCoSchools

Mrs. Bauer’s classes and Friends of the Earth students along with community volunteers are completing a microplastic (1-5 mm) survey of towns along the Guyandotte River. They have collected 70 samples at 7 different sites so far and will be collecting more samples next weekend. The students sift through the collected samples and categorize plastics as foams, films, line, fragments, or other types of plastic. This data will help the US EPA understand what types of microplastics are found in fresh waters. Wyoming East High School: Bus 188 will deliver students that ride Bus 183 and his regular students. Mullens Elementary and Middle School: Bus 188 will deliver the students that ride Bus 183 home. Students that live on Guyandotte Avenue towards Itmann may be 30 minutes late getting home.
